Barclays matches Red Sock Cancer campaign

BARCLAYS Bank in Cardiff has matched the funds raised by a unique campaign to raise awareness of prostate cancer among men in Wales.

Keith Cass, a retired businessman from Cardiff launched the ‘Red Sock’ campaign when he was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer - an advanced stage where little or no treatment can be given. View more.

Last chance to score at Ninian Park and fight Cancer in Wales

AS the Bluebirds prepare for the club’s biggest game since 1927 in Sunday’s FA Cup Semi-Final clash against Barnsley, a Welsh cancer charity is giving fans and amateur players alike the chance to score a goal for Cardiff City at Ninian Park in front of 18,000 fans.

Cancer Research Wales is organising a unique 5-a-Side football tournament in association with Cardiff City FC on April 20 at Powerleague in Whitchurch, Cardiff. View more.

 

Charity carries on its work in memory of founder Ed

Less than a year after the death of its founder, The Ed Evans Foundation will host its largest charity event to date on Friday 18 March in memory of its creator who lost his battle against a rare form of brain tumour last October.

Titled the Ed Evans Memorial Spring Ball, the near to sell-out event will see Ed’s loyal friends and family gather with fellow fundraisers at the black tie event  in the grounds of Sophia Gardens. View more.

 

Walk of Faith in Honour of Amy

A group of fundraisers from Briton Ferry are pulling on their trainers and heading for the M4 for a mammoth fundraising walk in aid of Cancer Research Wales.

Sue Hughes, (42) lost her teenage daughter Amy to cancer shortly before her 18th birthday in 2005. Since Amy’s sudden death, Sue has organised a series of events each year for the charity that funds vital research into the treatment and prevention of the disease in Wales. View more.

Welsh Cancer Charity appeal for life changing research into prostate cancer

A WELSH cancer charity is appealing to the people of Wales to help fund pioneering research into one of the most common cancers affecting people in Wales.

This week (MARCH 10 -16 2008) is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Week, and Cancer Research Wales, which has its headquarters at Velindre Hospital in Cardiff, is encouraging the people of Wales to donate to its £1million appeal, to help Welsh scientists develop an accurate test for prostate cancer, a disease which affects more than 1,400 men in Wales every year. Young farmers ‘seil’ their way to fundraising success

ERYRI Young Farmers have ‘seiled’ their way to a fundraising success for a Welsh cancer charity.

Four members of the Young Farmers Club, Nia Lloyd, Nesta Griffiths, Nia Griffith, and Eleri Evans completed a sponsored abseil challenge in aid of Cancer Research Wales and raised £500. View more.
