Cowbridge Mayor put’s the FUN in Fundraising!

Sian Vaughan recently received the title of Mayor of Cowbridge in May 2017 and we are delighted to have been chosen as the Mayor’s charity of the year! Sian has been raising the profile of Cancer Research Wales throughout the town with Coffee Mornings, Champagne and Canapé evenings as well as selling our merchandise! We are so excited to work with the Mayor and can’t wait to be part of these events.

Cancer Research Wales: Our Strength is Cancers Weakness!

Cancer Research Wales funds pioneering cancer research right here on your doorstep! We are dedicated to leading the way with research that will quickly address priority concerns for Wales, focusing on improving early diagnosis, providing better treatment for patients with the overall aim to find a cure. With a portfolio of over 40 research projects, we continuously strive to fund areas of cancer research that will make a difference to the people of Wales and beyond.

In the last 3 years alone, Cancer Research Wales has pledged over £5 million for new research initiatives including studies to discover the root cause of delays in cancer diagnosis and treatment and the development of blood-based diagnostic tests for use in primary care to aid the early diagnosis of cancer.

All money raised by supporters is spent in Wales so with the support of the Mayor and the Cowbridge community just imagine what we can achieve together!

How can you get involved?

The Mayor has been extremely busy putting together the events calendar for 2017. Every month the Mayor welcomes you to enjoy some tea and sweet treats at the Mayor’s Parlor in Cowbridge Town Hall.

Kirstin our Fundraiser recently joined the Mayor at one of her coffee mornings and enjoyed lots of tea, coffee and cake. The coffee morning was also very kindly supported by Bellway Homes who donated delicious cupcakes.

See the upcoming coffee morning dates below:

  • 21st October, 10.30am – 12pm
  • 4th November 10.30am – 12pm

More events will be published throughout the year. Keep an eye out for posters, balloons and adverts outside the Town Hall in Cowbridge.

“Cancer Research Wales are delighted to be supported by the Mayor of Cowbridge. Money raised will support the great work we are doing here in Wales into early diagnosis, better treatment and the prevention of cancer. Thank you so much for your support.” Katie Killoran Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research Wales.
