In January 2016 we received a call from the Principality Building Society confirming that Cancer Research Wales had been chosen as one of their charity partners for the next three years. We were absolutely delighted to hear the news that Cancer Research Wales would be working and supported by such a significant organisation within the Welsh market place. We were even more delighted to hear that the relationship would be throughout a three year period and they had chosen three worthy causes including Llamau a homeless charity and School of Hard Knocks who support underprivileged people in Wales through sport.
Staff within the 53 branches and 17 agencies across Wales have been tirelessly fundraising for the three charities including a midnight mountain walk up Snowdon, trekking 16 miles across South Wales dressed as Superheroes and much more.
Not only have the Principality been doing their own fundraising for Cancer Research Wales, they have also volunteered, participated and sponsored some of our key events including our Annual Golf Day and Brecon Beacon Night Hike. In return a number of staff have visited our laboratories in Cardiff to find out more about where their money is being invested.
During the three year partnership, the Principality raised an incredible £500,000 which has been split between the three charities. As a result of this wonderful partnership Cancer Research Wales received over £160,000 which has contributed greatly to our life-saving research studies to help cancer patients across Wales.
A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO THE PRINCIPALITY BUILDING SOCIETY FOR THEIR SUPPORT IN HELPING US IN OUR FIGHT FOR ‘A WALES WITHOUT CANCER’.
