In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, Cancer Research Wales has taken the very difficult decision to postpone its annual grant call which was due to launch in April 2020. As a result of the major disruption to all clinical pathways across Wales, and the closure of University research departments for the foreseeable future, it is prudent that Cancer Research Wales makes this decision. This postponement will help to ensure that our high standards of research excellence and output are not compromised, and that the monies our wonderful donors pledge is spent in the most effective way.
The scientific committee, along with the Board of Trustees, will regularly review the situation and at the appropriate time announce a new date for the grant call. We thank you for your co-operation and understanding at this difficult time and look forward to funding more world-class research across Wales as soon as everything is back to normal. In the meantime, Cancer Research Wales remains committed to all of its current portfolio of research and is actively working with recipient institutions to provide support and guidance to all of our funded students and staff.
