Dr Arwyn Jones

Dr Arwyn Jones is a Reader in Membrane Traffic and Drug Delivery at the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He was originally born and raised in Llanrwst, North Wales and gained his PhD in protein biochemistry and crystallography at Birkbeck College, University of London.

Research projects in his lab fall under the themes of cancer cell biology and endocytosis, concentrating on linking fundamental endocytosis research to the remit of cellular delivery of macromolecular therapeutics. Ongoing projects include: Characterisation of endocytic pathways utilised by therapeutic macromolecules to gain access into cells, studying the mechanism of entry of cell penetrating peptides (CPP) and CPP-conjugates

In addition to research he also actively promotes engagement of science with the public. He is a regular face and voice on TV and Radio in Wales and has also organized large science exhibitions for the public such as at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
