Dr Emiliano Spezi
Dr Emiliano Spezi (PhD, CPhys, MInstP, MIPEM) is the lead R&D physicist in Velindre Cancer Centre. He is responsible for the co-ordination of Medical Physics R&D activities within the hospital. He obtained his degree in Physics at the University of Bologna (Italy) followed by a PhD which focussed on Monte Carlo simulation of Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT). Emiliano is also an HPC registered clinical scientist with expertise in clinical radiotherapy physics, ranging from treatment plan optimisation to pre-treatment dose verification. His current research interests include: Image Guided Radiotherapy, Adaptive Radiotherapy, In-vivo Dose Verification, High Performance Computing and Radiotherapy Planning for Molecular Targeted Therapy.
